Minors win championship match against neighbours
28 Apr 2005
The Minors ran out fairly easy winners against an up and coming Granemore side who made the Nab girls fight every inch of the way.
In the first half in particular Granemore were evens with St Brenda's and the half time scoreeline of three goals to nil for the Nab didn't do justice to Granemore. The second half was a more one sided affair with the strong wind which favoured the Nab a telling factor.
Whilst a solid enough performance all round, highlights for St Brenda's were Aideen Canavan's scorching opening goal, Aileen McParland's tireless efforts, Edel McParland's and Shauna Smyth's performances in defence and some lovely scores from Geraldine Gray, Maria Corr and Mairead McClelland. Colleen McGuigan also particularly caught the eye with some fine upfield clearances. Final score: Granemore 0-1, St Brenda's 7-2
