Nab under 18's have close win over Keady

This long awaited 2005 under 18 championship was played in Ballymacnab on Mon10th April in front of a very large crowd and they were entertained to a tight and exciting contest. Field conditions left the game scrappy in parts where free flowing play was at a premium The Keady girls adapted to conditions quicker and were dominant in the first half and led at half time. The Nab camogs however came out in the second half full of determination and couldn't be held by their neighbours, winning on a scoreline of St Brenda's 2-4 Keady 1-3. Mairead McClelland had an outstanding third quarter which made a big difference and the Nab rattled in a goal and two points to no reply during this phase of the game. Scorers for the nab were Ciara hayes 1-2, Geraldine Gray 1-0, Colleen Mcguigan 0-1 and Mairead McClelland 0-1. St Brenda's overall didn't raise their game to their full potential throughout the match possible due to pitch conditions and the long lay-off from their previous competitive encounter. Bets for the Nab on the night were Michaela King in midfield, Ciara Hayes in forwards, Catherine Toner in goals and Mairead McClelland. Players who shone for Keady were Nicole McQuillan, Danielle McBirney and Sarah Molloy. St Brenda's now proceed to the 2005 u-18 championship semifinal against neighbours Granemore. Awaiting in the wings for the winners of this match to play the final are St Joseph's Madden.
