Minors win over Madden
The minors recorded their second league win
against St Joseph’s Madden last week on a scoreline of 4-4 to 1-2. This
was a highly competitive match with both teams totally committed. Outstanding
for the Nab on the night were Aideen Canavan who put in an excellent performance
in midfield, Amy Lavery who was in great form in attack, Emma McParland, Erin
O’Hare, Elish Canavan and Orla O’Hare in defence all of who never put a foot
wrong throughout. Sinead Murphy had another good game in the middle while young
Shanna Dougan worked tigerishly. Nicola McCormack was very effective in the half
forward line and contributed much to the attack whilst also working hard to
curtail a very strong Madden centre half back. Louise Toner showed her
versatility when she came outfield into fullback. Megan Leonard and Shanna
Leonard were strong throughout, cutting out many Madden forages upfield. Laura
Gray, Shannon Beagan and Maria Corr worked hard upfront to exert pressure on
Madden’s goal line. Coming into the play in the second half were Caroline
Kennedy, Aideen Lennon, Tara Beagan, Carol Mackin and super-sub Louise Vallely
who took her goal very well with a great first time strike. Shing for Madden was
Laura McGuinness who took some lovely scores. Ann Grimley was the whistle blower
and kept the game flowing very well. Scorers for St Brenda’s Aideen Canavan 1-2,
Amy Lavery 1-2, Louise Vallelly 1-0.
Primary fall to Madden
The
primary team travelled to Madden last week and lost their league unbeaten record
in a highly exciting game where the home side ran out winners on a scoreline
of 2-4 to 1-4 . The Nab girls didn’t fully play to their potential and
missed the scoring prowess of the talented Danielle McKee. Best for St Brenda’s
on the night were Laura Smyth, Aoife Crilly and Aoife Grugan
