Nab's minors lose in County Final

The Nab's gallent minor team fell to a superior Keady side in last nights Minor Championship final played in Mullabrack. Keady were particularly dominant in the first half with the sun at thier backs and playing downfield, and went in on a lead of 2-6 to 0-1 at the break. Keady were strong in every section of the field and it took a great team effort from St Brenda's to contain them in the second half to 5 points while the Nab replied with three of their own. Every Nab girl played their hearts out and despite going into the game with injuries and losing Maria Corr to injury early in the game, they battled to the end. Orla O'Hare in full back had a tremendous game while Louise Toner in goals was very solid. Emma McParland did trojan work to curtail the talented Laura Comiskey while young Aideen Lennon did very well in putting in a number of good tackles. Erin O'Hare had a great tussle when switched to mark Keady dangerwomen Nicole McQuillan and did an excellent job. Sinead Murphy put in a great effort in midfield while her partner Aideen Canavan also worked hard and was very effective when moved to the forward line. Petrina Cosgrove caught the eye with a number of excellent runs and always looked dangerous while Amy Lavery took two lovely points. Carina McKee came into the game well in the second half and supplied some great balls forward. Caroline Kennedy and Megan Leonard worked tirelessly against a very strong Keady defence. Nicola McCormack was very unlucky not to get her name on the scoresheet putting in a great amount of work. Elish Canavan put in a solid game throughout. Maria Corr unfortunately had to retire early from the game with a leg injury but gave it her all. Laura Gray played verry well when coming on for the second half while Shanna Dougan worker very hard when coming on as an early sub. Aoife McArdle made her entrance late in the game and worked very hard to thwart Keady's attack.
