Under age presentation day for 2006
29 Jan 2007

A great day out was had by all when the annual presentation event for the underage players of St Brenda's took place on Saturday 6th January in Croke Park.

The underage age players of St Brenda’s held a very enjoyable annual presentation in the illustrious surroundings of Pairc an Chrocaigh on Saturday past. A bus load of 47 players and their mentors travelled to Dublin where they were graced with the presence of one of Armagh’s all time great gaels Kieran McGeeney who spoke to the girls and made the presentation to the 2006 Post Primary County League and Championship winning panel and to the individual award winners for the year.

Under14 Player of the Year award went to the excellent Amy Lavery for her contributions over the year while under14 Most Improved player was presented to the hard working and talented Aideen Lennon. In the Under12 category the Player of the Year was a joint award between Hannah McGeown and Amy McBirney, two players of the highest calibre sure to make big names for themselves in the years ahead. Most improved Under12 award went to the very impressive Caoimhe McParland who has developed her wide range of camogie skills with great commitment and dedication. Under11 player of the year was awarded to Donna Vallely who was steady as a rock all year and continues to develop into a very talented prospect while Most Improved under11 player was awarded to the hardworking Laura Smyth who has come on leaps and bounds with her great energy and commitment.

After the presentation the group had a very enjoyable tour of Croke Park and its facilities. Let’s hope that when some of the girls don the County Senior jersey in the years to come their advance viewing of the pitch and facilities will have been a very useful exercise for All Ireland Camogie Day!  The return journey home was broken by a stop at the Carrickdale Hotel for a welcome meal.

All in all this was a very successful and enjoyable day. Thanks are extended to Guest of Honour Kieran McGeeney for making the day such a memorable one for the girls (and for their starry eyed mentors!!) and thanks also to those same starry eyed mentors for taking the day out to accompany the underage players for their big day out. Well done to the organisers of the day
