St Brenda's Primary team are county champs!
08 Sep 2007
In an outstanding display of skills and commitment the very strong Nab primary team overcame the spirited challenge of neighbours Granemore in this years county championship final. The game was eagerly awaited, its original fixture date having been due some weeks ago and the Nab cailini had obviously used their waiting time to good effect. They were physically stronger than the young Granemore team who to their credit never gave up and contained the Nab side in the second half to just a few scores. The Nab were spearheaded by their outstanding midfield duo of Danielle McKee and captain Laura Smyth who both set the foundations for the victory as they dominated the exchanges for most of the game. In defence Aoife Crilly was a real tower of strength and put in an outstanding display of defending while upfront Hannah Gray and Olivia Keenan were battling it out for the top scorer notch. Hannah caught the eye with excellent ball winning skills and skilful solo running and her finishing was sublime. The Granemore girls just couldn't contain her and Hannah was a worthy recipient of the player of the match award. This was a fine team performance from the Nab who have been well prepared by their management team of Siobhan Smyth, Pauline Smyth and Barni Maguire. Full match report & photos will follow.
